Bewick prize
I was delighted to be selected to be the first engraver to receive the Bewick Prize at the Society of Wood Engravers` annual exhibition. The prize is awarded for an engraving in the spirit of Thomas Bewick`s work. (He was the eighteenth century artist and natural history author who popularised engraving on wood for commercial illustration). I decided to spend the prize money on a lovely boxwood block.
